Out of date by a couple of months

It was a mother's day gift to my mother-in-law. The Milk Honeycomb and the melting moments were actually both with the best before date of February 2022 ( a few months old).
She had to put it in the bin.
It was very disappointing because being 80 years old it could have actually been fatal at her age to get food poisoning from out of date food, specially food containing dairy.
